Forever Morgans Rescue, Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 rescue organization that strives to help Morgan horses in immediate need and places them in adoptive or foster homes. Horses come from broker lots, auctions, neglect and abuse situations, and owner surrender. We always need foster and adoptive homes, donations, and volunteers. Please join us!

All donations to Forever Morgans are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Each horse is adopted with a contract to ensure they do not end up at auction again. Many of these rescued Morgans have gone on to be show horses, family riding and driving horses and for therapeutic handicap riding.

Please consider fostering or adopting. The horses are not truly safe until they are home!

Big Creek Cracker Jack #146139

1998 Registered Bay Gelding , 15.2 hh
Patchett Hill x Donna's Fairytale
Fostered in FL
Adoption Fee: $300

Due to changes in his owner's life, Big Creek Cracker Jack is available for adoption. Jack is a well-trained driving horse, but ONLY a driving horse. He has told his previous owners that he was not born to be a riding horse. He spent at least 8 years as an Amish driving horse and he excels at driving. He has a fast trot (especially when headed toward home), but will come back down to a walk fairly easily, although it does take a bit more effort to bring him back to a walk when he's headed home. Therefore, Jack is recommended for an experienced driver.

Numerous attempts have been made to train Jack under saddle. His saddle training was started with the Amish and was halted for unknown reasons; from then on he was used by the Amish only as a driving horse. His current owner made several attempts to ride Jack and was bucked off 3 or 4 times. A professional trainer was brought in but that saddle training was unsuccessful, as well. Jack has been evaluated by a chiropractor and no physical issues were found. His owner decided to forgo riding since Jack is such a good harness horse.

His owner said that Jack's ground manners are excellent, his overall temperament is great, and he socializes very well with the rest of the herd. Jack waits for his owner at the pasture gate and follows along at his owner's shoulder. He is a bit bothered by the summer heat in Florida but not as much as when he first arrived. A northern or cooler climate might suit him better. Jack's owner is really hoping that he goes to a home that loves and appreciates him, so much so that his owner has graciously offered to send the cart and harness with Jack when he is adopted!
